i do not believe there is a best make up brand. each company has their strengths and it is a personal perference and age and skin tyoe makes a huge difference too. here are some of my favs:
foundations: giorgio armani oil free liquid foundation, laura mercier's tinted moisturizer, bobbi brown's stick foundation, chantecaille's mousse foundation and chanel's two in one powder. note that if you cannot find a colour to match your skin tone perfectly, go to prescriptives aas they can mix one for you. for work, i use mac's oil free or hyper reel foundation.
powders: prefer loose powder and like chantecaille, armani and laura mercier for coloured powder and laura mercier's translucent powder. personally i use chantecaille. all of these are very finely milled and feel very natural.
eyeshadows: i use mac for my clients for weddings, special events and for photo shoots. i also use them for myself. currently in make up bag for me....i have bobbi brown and laura mercier that is a compact combo. the better the brand, the finer the mill and the better it will sit on your eyes without creasing. it all depends on your preference and who has the colours you like.
blush: i use mac for work and have used them in the past. personally love and recommend nars orgasm and benetint by benefit it is the most natural looking blush. have used stila blush and chanel in the past. just found ysl's blush powder in a bottle with a puffer applicator on the end and a mirrored cap. this thing is fool proof and works wonderfully. so easy and great colours.
lipsticks: all a matter of preference. i use nars dolce vita everyday and love bobbi brown pink beige. i also love stila gloss and chanel lipstick. l'oreal and revlon also have great stuff....use them over lancome and estee lauder as they are the same companies and have very similar formulations so don't waste your money. the best selection is with mac. if you cannot find a colour with them, not sure you will anywhere else. it is a matter of texture, preference and price range. if you have a shade that you cannot live without and it is discontinued, go to prescriptives, they will mix it or you
mascara: maybelline great lash, l'oreal voluminous, clinic definicil, prescriptive super false lashes and dior's runway
liner: love mac for pencil. also use eyeshadows as liner...favs bobi brown espresso and laura mercier's deep night (shimmer midnight blue. love laura mercier's liquid cake liner and nars' shimmery eyeliners in black with gold and silver or brown with gold sparkles.
lipliner: chanel as it also cmes with a high quality lip brush at the end iand is very creamy and the best sharpener. mac makes very good ones too.
eyebrows, anastasia of beverly hills is great. i prefer powder over pencil. sephora has a very good one for much less.
shimmer powder: stardusk by laura mercier and shimmer brick by bobbi brown. the finest milled and therefore makes it hands down the best.
best face primer: laura mercier....like spackle for the face and it keeps make up on longer. gives incredible looking skin.
bronzer: cargo or benefit's hoopla
hope this helps. i know it is a long list. my suggestion is put your money into the foundation, powder, concealer and primer. this give the base and the best looking natural skin possible. skimp on the rest if you must.

There isn't one brand that is better than the rest. It's best to mix and match the highest-rated products from several brands.

I only use Maybelline mascara, but I have other brands of other kinds of makeup.
I use a lot of Lancome right now because I bought all new for my wedding but I love Clinique and have used it mostly for the last 10 years.

I love Everday Mineral Makeup. It doesn't make me breakout, feels like I'm not wearing any makeup and looks very natural. It's also very inexpensive compared to other similar brands, all ingredients are natural too. The company will send you free samples.

MAC cuz it doesn't have fragrance in it and because the colors are true and beautiful, and because the make up stays on all day, even when you are on a ship out to sea....

Artistry. It is the best that I have ever found. It is very well priced, and it is in the Top 5 in the world. I love it.

i might want to assert jap, because they are better good and a lot less stressful to maintain. German automobiles are too intense priced for me to maintain and purchase. now to not indicate the engines are too complicated.
