No it's not. I have been to many concerts over the years and the last one was not long ago. If people did not have a band t-shirt when they arrived, they bought one and put it on as soon as they got in the gates.

concert etiquette 101 says

NEVER wear the band's shirt when you go see them. it is permissable however to buy the shirt at the show and put it on on the way out so when you go to a bar or denny's afterward everyone will know you went.
what is truly cool is to find out what band one of the people in the band you like likes and then wear THAT band's t-shirt.
also acceptable is to wear a band shirt for similar kinds of music or to wear the total OPPOSITE of what is expected. like a Britney Spears shirt to see Limp Bizkit or a Tom Jones shirt to see Flogging Molly....being different is always cool.

ps...wearing the band's t-shirt makes you look like a rookie cherry neo-maxi-zoom-dweebie wannabe new school fool out for a first show

No, but wearing a regular shirt and buying a new band one at the concert is cooler.

It's not stupid, it's cool! When I went to the Donnas concert, I was wearing their t-shirt and I actually got to MEET the Donnas! They wanted to talk to me over everyone else because it was obvious that I was fan. You never know! But yeah, don't worry about it, it's typical concert dress to wear a band T.

if its an older tour, then no, thats fine

but if its a shirt you got at a store or the shirt for the current tour, then don't wear it. it looks stupid and fake.

also: if you buy the current shirt, don't just throw it on. hold on to it or go into the bathroom and put it on under the shirt you're already wearing

kinda, but you should wear another band's shirt. example: you are going to see the rolling stones...wear a pink floyd shirt. i think thats more appropriate
