First, look at what you are spending money on and divide it into necessities (rent, food, gasoline, heating bill, etc) and luxuries (cell phone, cable TV, going out to movies, etc).

You probably don't have much money for things that you really enjoy, so you want it stretch it as far as possible. Are you getting a lot of value out of the money you are spending on luxuries ($5 a month for text messaging, for example)? Would you get more value out of that money if you did something else with it? Consider crazy things like cancelling your cable tv, cutting out the daily run to the coffee shop, or even giving up soda. Rent movies instead of going out. Cook more instead of eating out.

Then, think of free things that you love to do. Sit down with a friend and brainstorm. Here's a bunch of lists that someone else came up with: http://www.discoverfun.com/freeinfo/500fun/index.html
(not all are free).

Finally, don't worry so much. You probably won't always be on a shoe string budget. Life is short. Enjoy.

Remember the three basic needs:

- Food and drink

- Clothing

- Housing

Always fulfill all of them, even if they are just in their basic form.

The rest are luxuries.

Rent, gasoline, heating bill, and so on are often considered as necessities when they are actually luxuries. Get free rent housing, do not use gasoline, heat things up using blanket/clothing/what ever, and so on.

As for on how to enjoy life on a tight shoe string budget.

You first need to list the things you want to ENJOY. After that you fulfill them ONE by ONE.

You then need to list the things you do that do NOT NEED to get the things you ENJOY. After that you eliminate them ONE by ONE.

You also need to list the things you think you NEED but actually do NOT NEED. After that you eliminate them ONE by ONE.

Just remember, the really good things in life ARE free. A walk in the park with someone you love, a soft cuddly puppy, two kittens playing, a babies laugh. Too, you can buy things like potatoes, peanut butter, bread, rice, butter, the staples, things like these. What's better than a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk? Friends, laughter, a good book. Yeah, life is great! Good luck, :) Arum

do not buy clothes, buy only food on sale, do not eat out, eat cereal, mac and cheese and pb&j sandwiches, keep the electric off, wash dishes by hand, wash your things in the bathtub and air dry. Grow your own food from seeds, collect rain water to water them.
Now to solve the problem, get a second job or network, write off your business expenses and a part of your home. Walk places or ride a bike. Combine business with pleasure to write off trips and mileage. Stop the newspaper, drink water, not juices or soda, look for things on the curb to sell, and the most important of all....give to charity.
God says that you can not out give him and that he will take care of you. Remember how much more he cares for you than the lillies of the field or the birds in the air.
