Actually, your period is only getting your body rid of the old eggs that were not fertilized and just junk in particular. You are not losing any vitamins when on your period, your body is simply cleaning itself.
If you want to fast for a particular religious reason, then go ahead but I would personally wait until after my period to fast. Too much going on in your body to deal with fasting as well. Ask your pastor if you are doing this for a religious reason; otherwise, make your own decision. It is your body.
In the very old days, a woman was considered unclean during her menstrual cycle which may have something to do with a rule to not fast when menstruating. So, if you are fasting to purify your spirit, it may not be acceptable in your particular faith.

I don't know the religious answer to this. But my common sense answer is probably because your period takes a lot out of you and you need energy to cope. Periods can be emotionally and physically draining. It just makes sense to eat so that you can keep your energy up.

I see no reason why you can not fast during your period.
You are not actually bleeding but shedding the lining of your uterus which is made up of tissue full of blood.

during period, women loses blood that means energy,,,so you must compensate the lost of energy by eating....
in islam , women are not allowed to fast during period , but when the month of fasting (ramadan) is finished , she must fast the days that she didint fast in ramadan ,,, ie: if the period was 6 days , she must fast these 6 days after ramadan

You shouldn't "fast" anytime. It's not good for you. But durring your period, you need a little extra iron because you are losing blood.

well its cus dat wen ur on ur period u tend to lose all important vitamins and energies - notice how easily u get tired during periods? fasting wud prolly b fatal*sort of* lol u lose a lot of blood dat means uve lost ur iron,ok.muslim dont fast during periods cuz the girls r considered as dirty:)

bc your body is under alot of strain. by losing so much blood, you are losing nutrients your body needs, specifically iron. so you should be eating especially healthy to compensate during that time, not depriving yourself.
