Ok so i have a nine year old sister. my fam just learned that one of her best friends died over xmas break..... they were in a car crash and im not sure about the rest of the details... how do we tell my sister and how do we help her cope... im having a hard time as it is cuz this kid was liek a lil brother to me...

It's hard but, you need to tell her and just be there for her.

That's tough. I remember, by the time I was 9, two very important relatives of mine had passed away (and two more that I do not remember, because I was too young), and it was very hard to accept that. A nine-year-old understands the concept of death very well, but it will be hard for her to understand why it is not the old ones that die first. You'll have to explain that sometimes that's not how it works. Make your sis feel that there are so many people around her who love her very much and want to see her carry on with her everyday activities. Unfortunately, this is something we all have to learn to deal with.

I hear what you are saying. Don't be too alarmed because children at that young age are very residual. They tend to bounce back quickly. Tell her in language that she will understand, and watch her for any adverse reactions.
