is he going to talk to?
The terrorists are not a government, they're thugs and murderers.
A political solution is only good if you have someone who will listen.

I would have to agree with you. Political solutions screwed us in Korea and Vietnam. Let the mililtary fight the war and let the politicians make laws. Keep them out of military policy making and let people who know what they are doing do their job.
I have always believed that war is the failure of politics, but once the shooting starts, then you need to overwhelm your enemy and kick his *** so you can go home.

What shortsighted people don't seem to understand is the reason many Iraqis are joing militias is because they can't find a decent paying job. Even the Iraqi government has said some able bodied men are joining militias just to put food on the table. That can't be fought militarily.

Another problem is the Iraqi government is in cahoots with a militia themselves. That is also another problem that can't be solved militarily.

In case you've missed the last half dozen Senate Intelligence and Senate Armed Services Committee meetings, the majority of the violence is sectarian. We cannot force Sunnis and Shiites to play nice. That has to be worked on within their own country. America cannot take a side in the violence, we can only police the neighborhoods.

This whole sectarian conflict (The Iraq War is over and we won) has to be dealt with between Iraqis and through their government and political institutions.

Sen. Kennedy is not so far off! Every situation like what we find in Iraq today has a reason! Such reasons cannot always be changed by plain force!

The real problem there is that Iraq does not have one people but three, who hate each other's guts, that is the Shiites, the Sunnits and the Kurds! They were held together only with brutal force by Saddam Hussein. Now that Saddam is gone, the country is falling apart and
not the entire Armed Forces of the US can stop that!

With all do respect, is this the same Sen. Kennedy that used a political solution to beat a manslaughter rap?

Why he continues to get elected is beyond me. Maybe the other senators had to let him speak because he was swaying too much.
