Organic compounds are found in living things. They always contain carbon.

Inorganic compounds can be found anywhere. They do not necessarily contain carbon.

Organic compounds have at least one carbon atom in them, inorganic have no carbon in the at all.

there is a real simple way to tell the difference. organ is not man made--inorganic is man made
oil=organic
wood=organic
plactic=inorganic--it contains petroleum products, but is man made
