I dont know if my email settings are wrong but I cannot make Outlook Express 6 notify me when an email comes. You see, I was hoping I would be notified when an email came by a letter shaped icon appearing in the bottom right hand taskbar, but it does not. Instaed, it only appears when I manually open Outlook Express 6 which is incovenient as the email could have been there for a few hours. I am not sure if this is how it is suppose to work, or I have made a mistake somewhere in the settings, but if anyone can give me some advice it would be much appreciated !

Unless you minimise it and leave it running all the time, OE6 doesn't check your emails while it's not running. (If you catch my drift) An alternative email client for this is Windows Live Mail Desktop (beta). It, as I said, is in beta, so it may have a few bugs, although I've only encountered one, ever. You need a Windows Live ID to use it, but you can use any POP3 account. You've got a Windows Live ID if you have a .NET Passport, a Hotmail account, or sign in to MSN Games. You would use the same credentials to login. On first run it imports any mail accounts in use in any other client like OE6. And it's FREE!
PS: It doesn't automatically run at startup but stays in your tray once you run it once.

If you have the outlook icon in the system tray ( very right hand bottom corner of screen) right click on it and select 'show new mail desktop alert'
this should do it

Most of the Outlook Express error messages are due to problems with the internet connection, not the software on your computer.
