My router is connected to my modem through the ethernet cable, and my router is also connected to my computer through ethernet. However, I have to use a wireless adapter on my machine in order to use the wireless network. There is one other computer on the network, as well as an x-box360. My question is, how can I use the physical connection between my modem/router/computer without having to use a wireless adaptor? Since there are cables running from my modem to the router, and from the router to my machine, why do I need a wireless adaptor at all for this machine? The other machine and x-box connect via wireless and I am fine with that - it's just the one that is connected to the router itself that I want "non-wireless".

Im not understanding your question even after reading it many times. It appears to me you have two computers and an Xbox connected to your router using ethernet and one of those computers also has a wireless adapter in it that you are using to connect to the router. Why???

Disconnect the wireless adapter and just use the wired connection. A wireless connection is mainly for systems that want to be mobile and not wired in one place or for systems in areas to far away to run a cable to.

If you have additional ports either on your modem or wireless router, just run another cable to your other computer
