It's by a band called Sigur Ros, from Iceland. Officially the song has no title just known as Untitled track 4, it is sometimes refered to as The Nothing Song or njósnavélin
There is a version of this song on their album ( ) - otherwise known as untitled but the one that appears on the film is a live version as Vanilla Sky was released before this was recorded.

There are a two other Sigur Ros tracks on the soundtrack too but only one appears on the soundtrack CD
