A lot of gimmicks are redone and repackaged in wrestling, some are for the better, some are for the worse. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of him, but I will give him credit that he does have some talent and knows how to work the crowd and the mic. I do see a lot of similarities in John Cena's gimmick with the moves that you mention. One correction would be the Five Knuckle Shuffle which would be similar to the People's Elbow in some form or fashion. The crowd seems to be over with Cena and it doesn't look like that's gonna change any time soon. That's the beauty of wrestling though today, because the line between faces and heels has become somewhat blurred and Cena gets booed even though he is regarded as a face. You don't have to cheer for him if you don't want to.
