No, this is not normal, and may be a sign of an ovarian cyst. Get checked out by the doctor ASAP.

It isn't necessarily common, but it can happen. This happened to me when I first starting ovulating and I actually went in to the doctor for my side pain and once I was diagnosed with gastritis, but then I was told by my OBGYN that I had something called "mittelschmerz," which basically means that I feel pain on my sides during ovulation. Here is the technical definition and why it happens:

"Pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen in women occurring midway in the intermenstrual interval, thought to be secondary to the irritation of the pelvic peritoneum by fluid or blood escaping from the point of ovulation in the ovary."

Not all women have it, but it does happen, and it is normal--no cause for concern.

Yes it is I feel pain in my side every month when I ovulate

some woman say they feel a pain on whichever side they are ovulating from..i never did but as im getting older some months i do have a pain by my ovaries...some ladies have this every month ..if its something really bothersome or just doesnt feel right call your doc

I don't think is common, cause me and my girls never feel pain when we are ovulating, you should check that with a doctor.
