Just from what we have here Maddux is missing from several of the ballots. See how hard it is to be perfect.

5 unanimous / best 5 for those who did not list any.

I doubt anyone will get a unanimous vote, but, based on stats and class (no controvercy) Here's mine
:
1- Roger Clemens- If there is EVER gonna be a unanimous choice, it's him
2- Trevor Hoffman- All time saves leader, no brainer,
3- Randy Johnson- will probably be 2nd all time in K's and have 300 + wins!
4- Greg Maddux- In an offensive era, he'll post 350 + wins by the time he's done... amazing.
5- Mike Piazza- Best offensive catcher ever, voters like that!

There are so many other younger guys too, but it's impossible to project. I mean, I would have thought Daryll Strawberry was a lock after he'd been playing for 5 years, and look what happened to him... I stuck w/ the older guys who are ALREADY garunteed to be in.

Fun question, thanks!

The only three that would garner near unanimous decision in my book are Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, and possibly A-Rod. Bonds would be on this list also, if it weren't for the steroid crap. Those are the only ones that jump out at me as worthy of that type of support at this stage in their careers.

Sidenote: How very embarrassed those of you who put people like David Ortiz, Curt Schilling, and Omar Visquel on their lists must be. Neither Schilling nor Ortiz are anything near locks just to get into the hall of fame, much less garner unanimous votes. (Sorry if I forgot some players that were mentioned by others in my babbling. I didn't read all the responses.)

As you note, nobody has ever been a unanimous choice. However, the following guys are, without any doubt, Hall of Famers in anyone's eyes (yes, I know I picked 6, but I couldn't decide):

Roger Clemens
Greg Maddux
Craig Biggio
Tom Glavine
Randy Johnson
Pudge Rodriguez

I know I picked mostly pitchers - that's because I think any power hitter active in the last decade or so is under some suspicion of juicing and will thus be far from consensus choices.

The only currently active player who merits unanimous election to the HOF is Roger Clemens. Let's see what A-Rod does over the rest of his career and then we'll see.

Also I was surprised not to see (or did I just miss him) Jr. Griffey anywhere on this thread. Guy's got a shot to hit 600 HRs this year. Sweet, sweet player when he's healthy. Barring injuries he would have sailed past Aaron.

OK - sorry. Three other guys listed Griffey.

Right now, not sure, if Pujols keeps playing the way he is, and goes on with a successful career, he should be unanimous. Roger Clemens should be unanimous, Alex Rodriguez should be unanimous, Ken Griffey Jr. should be unanimous, and finally the smartest pitcher who ever lived, Greg Maddux.

Roger Clemens
Greg Maddux
Ichiro Suzuki
Pudge Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez

Those are my top five. I think eventually Derek Jeter will be elected. David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez both have a chance, but it'd help Manny if he'd stop being such an asshole. I think Mariano Rivera will probably get in...should, in my opinion. I also think Mike Piazza will get elected. Ryan Howard would have, but he got an awful late start on his career...he'll have to really turn it out and stay healthy. I also think that both Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson will get in. Tom Glavine also has a good chance.
I also believe that Ken Griffey Jr. goes in....sure wish he had never gone to Cincinnati...I think he'd have really put up some numbers.

I wouldn't vote for that Barry Bonds piece of sh*t, but he'll eventually go in, I think.
