I am travelling at Melbourne with my wife in the early February and will spend 2 days around the region of Great Ocean Road near Melbourne. I have only found some motor inns or motels there. Are there any nice hotels with good view and good facilities? Our budget is around 200-300 per night. Thanks

The start of the Great Ocean Road is about a bit over an 90 minutes drive from Melbourne. As it's a couple of hundred clicks long there is a variety of places to stay.
Some people prefer motels in a large town but I would prefer a B&B style in a small town like Wye River which is inbetween Lorne & Apollo Bay. It has a great pub, a general store and a fantastic surf beach plus plenty of walking tracks. It also makes a good launching pad for the next day as you are about an hour or so away from the 12 Apostles.
I don't know of a B&B in Wye but I had friends who had a place there which is why I like the place.

there r very few hotels on the Ocean rd. If u try Port Campbell there r several good motels there, Port Campbell is a small fishing village and I recomend it. If u r driving yr own car tis very accessible to all the scenic sights. To enjoy the Apostles and the rugged coast line I recomend u the helicopter trip, when we did it 3 yrs ago cost $100 for 20 mins, well worth it

i have stayed and would recommend Erskine falls cottages....they are well appointed and 5 minutes out of Lorne....the cottages are in the ottway ranges so you have the rainforrests and wild life to admire and are only 5min drive from the great ocean road in Lorne....its a great location and a nice central base for that region....
