Twickenham the home of English Rugby is currently the highest seater stadium at the minute with an 82,000 seater stadium after the redevelopment of the south stand.

Twickenham's capacity to 82,000 which will mean a record crowd for Sunday's Investec Challenge match between England and New Zealand.
The safety certificate has been received from Richmond Council, with all aspects agreed between the two parties.
The two new scoreboards are now in place and have been tested, and the two new videoscreens are almost complete with final testing tomorrow (Saturday).
The south stand hospitality boxes are in the final stages of completion, and the caterers are set to undertake their final preparations in the next 24 hours, ready for the guests on Sunday.
Ends.

You'll find that no one builds capacity stadiums like the Americans (though they may be quite low-tech, unimpressive structures - I dunno....tell me?). When tourists see US college football teams with 50,000-seater stadiums, they almost have heart attacks!

The Millennium Stadium (Welsh: Stadiwm y Mileniwm) in Cardiff is the national stadium of Wales, used primarily for rugby union and football home internationals. It was the largest Stadium in the United Kingdom with a capacity of 74,500, but relinquished this distinction when Old Trafford's extension was completed in 2006. Twickenham Stadium, the home of the England national rugby union team now holds the record, with its expansion to 82,000 seats. The Millennium Stadium is owned by Millennium Stadium plc which is a subsidiary company owned by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).

The English national stadium, Wembley, was demolished in 2002 and its replacement will be finished later this year. It will become the largest.

The new design for Wembley is for an all-seated capacity of 90,000 protected from the elements by a sliding roof. The stadium's signature feature will be a circular section lattice arch of 7 metre internal diameter with a 315 metre span, erected some 22° off true, and rising to 133 metres tall. According to "Guinness World Records 2006", the archway is the world's longest unsupported roof structure. It features an aircraft warning light at the top, the only stadium in the world to have one. The arch was raised for the first time during construction of the Stadium in June 2004.

For football (soccer) teams, who have their own grounds and don't need to use it for a multitude of sports, the largest are:

Old Trafford (given the nickname The Theatre of Dreams by Sir Bobby Charlton) is a football stadium in the Greater Manchester borough of Trafford, and is the home of Manchester United F.C. with 76,212.

Celtic Park (Glasgow, Scotland, home of football team Celtic F.C.) 60,832

Emirates Stadium (London, England, home of Arsenal F.C.) 60, 432
