My 3mths old baby sometimes sleeps through all night (From 10pm-7am). Do I need to change his diaper in between?

I change the baby right before he goes to bed and then I check him and change him before I go to bed, but I don't wake up just to change him. You can usually change his diaper without waking him up if you do it quickly and don't fuss or mess around too much. I use pjs that can be unsnapped at the bottom so I only have to take his legs out and then quickly change him, he might open an eye, but then settles right back to sleep again.

It depends on several things: the age of the baby, if he/she is awakened, and lastly the leakage protection of the diapers.

Newborns must be changed several times a night. They are easily awoken and often need several things to soothe them back to sleep.

A baby that is a few months old should only need one to two atmost diapers at night, but only if he/she is awoke or leaking.

A one year old or often much sooner, should sleep through the night regardless.

Urine is warm and stays so in a diaper under clothes so more than likely it wont bother the baby.

The key is getting a great brand of diapers. I swear by Pampers Baby Dry. The are soft enough and bendable to scrunch with the baby as they sleep but never ever leak. Talk to other moms and get some recommendations... thats how I came to find Pampers - it was the most recommended.

Good luck.

Most basically this depends on the sensitivity of your baby's skin. If he is not irritated (red) (or getting a rash) by a wet diaper (many babies build up a tolerance), then I'd agree with others that you don't want to wake him up to change him. Of course, in an ideal world, a baby wouldn't spend even a few minutes in a wet or soiled diaper, but opportunities for sleep are finite.
If you are ok with him sleeping in a wet diaper, you might even want to avoid changing it when/if he half wakes up crying and you can get him back to sleep quickly (where changing it would wake him up totally, and then its a lot more work to get him back to sleep).
As for leaking, I would put a waterproof sheet under him that you can wash occasionally, because the prolonged dampness or leaks can soil the sheet.

Unless they are awake and wanting it changed leave it!!!
Always check the cot linen in the morning though as sometimes if they have gone through the night without a change the diaper will leak.

If he is sleeping through the night, let him sleep, he may be a little wetter in the morning but as long as he isn't getting a rash or wet through everything and get cold, he should be fine. You may want to put him in a more abosorbent diaper at night.

You are blessed that you can get some extra sleep when he sleeps so long, enjoy what you can get.

If he were uncomfortable, trust me you'd know it! Smear him with which ever cream you prefer, or Vaseline. Then dust cornstarch on top of that, this will make a paste that will provide extra protection. Cleanse the diaper area with a fresh, wet washcloth during the day instead of baby wipes. Even though this is a bit more trouble you are getting the reward of sleeping through the night.

I don't change my 4 month olds diaper through the night unless she wakes up. Then I know she needs it to be changed. If they sellep through the night I wouldn't bother unless they have a rash or leaking.

If your baby is already sleeping through the night you definately do not want to ruin his sleeping habit. If the diaper is uncomfortable for him then he will wake up.

NO! just before bed, change his diaper and msear him up with whatever baby butt cream you use...Vaseline is good, A&D, whatever you are currently using. He should be fine until AM...if he develops a rash...i STILL wouldnt wake him to change him....i would just let him 'air out' in the AM if possible.
