well, the honor system doesnt work, thats for sure. thats why they made all of these child support laws (state & federal). the states are tired of deadbeats.

to flee to another state to avoid child support is a federal offense now.

yes, she can still get the CS, but it wont be easy.

tell her to contact legal aid office. every state has them and are in most counties. they go on a sliding scale, so its free to most people. look in the phone book, call the county court clerks office or your states Bar Assoc for the number.

they will get the paperwork going and know what to do. i have no idea what state you are in, so i cant look it up for you.

here is the CS calculator; just click on your state and fill it in. they go by both parents incomes, so that will be the general idea as to what the child support is supposed to be.

if she filed in the first place, he owes arrears... and lots of it. its child support, not child trust fund, so those funds are to be used for living expenses, gas, heat, electric, clothing, school supplies, soap, laundry det, etc.

Heck yeah you are entitled to that money. Your dad should of been a man and stood up to his responsibilities. I work in Child Support and I see tons of deadbeat dads everyday. Your mom had to raise you and support you by herself, so why can't he help out a little.

If you are under 18 and have not graduated from high school, yes you could get at least part of it. It's not likely that you would get all, but you could possibly recover some. Go see an attorney.

I worked for child support for 7 years. There is no statute of limitations in Ohio but it varies per state. In Ohio, your mom could still collect on the child support. However, you would have no rights to it unless your mom gave it to you after receiving the support.

Your dad is a fugitive/a deadbeat dad. You should talk to an attorney. Maybe someone will give you a free consultation if you call a few from the phone book.

If you are over 18, you can file for all those years of past due support. If you're under 18, your Mom can still get it. There is no statute of limitations and your father can lose his property, tax returns, wages, driver's license.

depends on the state you live in.......for instance in California there is NO retro active child support.it is ONLY from the day you file in court.............

Each state has different rules so it would be best to go along to the office in your state and ask.

Good luck, but please be warned that often it is an expensive process often with little to no return.

It is still owed to her, and by default to you. I would see about getting a lawyer if she can or if you can.... fix his *** right up.
