Yes and people need to pay attention to who they vote for and what they vote on.
1.Banned the sale of fattening snack foods and sodas from schools.
2.Bans in some cities on transfat foods.
3.Illegal to smoke in public in Omaha,DeKalb county in Georgia and illegal to smoke in vehicles in Ohio.
Slowly the govt is telling us what we can and cant do in our private lives..,and these are liberal democrats that are making these laws.Just look at Pelosi's statement of what the 100 hrs of congress is about..,health care, laws on smoking and obesity laws.Look at what they are planning..,we are losing our freedoms .

Yes. And people are too blind to see.
People who say the government is only monitoring terrorists phone calls and not theres- How do they know? How do you know you are not on some watch list for something else? For something you dont consider a crime and most courts wouldnt consider a crime but maybe under the patriot act they do?
They are not only using the patriot act to round up terrorists. Homeland Security uses the patriot act for many other non-terrorist related programs.

Yes. And for the people upstairs: ANY of us could find ourselves sooner or later being a "suspected terrorist". Read again. SUSPECTED. According to where I live in the U.S. they do NOT have the right to wiretap, search without cause, obtain private information. THEY ARE DOING THIS. By the way, if the president feels he must do these things under the guise of national security, he can retro-actively (within 72 hours) file a warrant. HE DOES NOT NEED THE PATRIOT ACT TO DO THIS AND HE STILL DOES NOT FOLLOW THAT PROCEDURE.
And it is NOT OK to BECOME LIKE THE ENEMIES WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST UNDER THE GUISE OF "FIGHTING TERRORISM".

Well if it is for my better for them to listen to my conversations over the phone and I don't have anything to hide then that is correct.-If that is what you meant.
I don't feel like the government is taking many rights. If I can still voice myself out from the convenience of my home through my finger tips.

Yes and they will continue because of World Trade. To make the big bucks we must conform to the rest of the world, i.e. use their courts, their banks, their money, etc. We've got to tolerate everything and forfeit all of our rights.
Freedom is fragile.

No. I have not had one right taken away from me in the past six years. The Patriot Act is not stripping you of rights, it's monitoring phone calls of SUSPECTED TERRORISTS!!!!!!! Are you a suspected terrorist? No? OK, so you're all set.
