This is a great question.

Countries that are economically depressed, need money to survive. Today, it is no longer just a two choice (democracy or communism) option for the leaders who head up these disadvantaged countries. The third choice is to become a Muslim nation (ruled by religion).

The leader of the country will always support the country that gives him money FIRST. Then he supports the political philosopy of the country that gives him the MOST money.

A simple example of this is Cuba. Ninety miles off the US coast it accepted money from Russia when the revolution occurred and ever since it has been a satellite country for communism. The Communists used this tiny island nation as a base for growing anti-democratic sentiments in South America.

Today, many of the oil rich Muslim countries provide millions of dollars in economic aid to African and Asian countries with the hope of "converting" them from being sympathetic to America (democracy) or Russia (neo-Communism).

A key concept here is "sphere of influence." Whenever one nation encroaches on the sphere of influence of another powerful country, bad things happen.

Actually, read up on the history of the American federal reserve. Assisting other nations with economic and financial aid is what created Communism.
