The endoplasmic reticulum (endoplasmic meaning "within the cytoplasm," reticulum meaning "little net" in Latin) or ER is an organelle found in all eukaryotic cells that is an interconnected network of tubules, vesicles and cisternae that is responsible for several specialized functions: Protein translation, folding, and transport of proteins to be used in the cell membrane (e.g., transmembrane receptors and other integral membrane proteins), or to be secreted (exocytosed) from the cell (e.g., digestive enzymes); sequestration of calcium; and production and storage of glycogen, steroids, and other macromolecules.[1] The endoplasmic reticulum is part of the endomembrane system. The basic structure and composition of the ER membrane is similar to the plasma membrane.

There are two type, The smooth ER (endoplasmic reticulum) and the Rough ER which is embeded with ribosomes. The rough ER synthesizes proteins and the Smooth ER stores such things as glycogen, enzymes and their products.

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) are divided into 2 types, the smooth and rough ER. The rough ER consists of small units of ribosomes attached onto it, making it to look rough. While the smooth ER, it is devoid of ribosomes. The rough ER are primarily responsible for synthesizing proteins such as enzymes while the smooth ER deals with the manufacturing of lipids and steroids.

ER this cell organ help in protein synthesis with the help of ribosome which is called rER , in the case of skeletal mucles it releases the Ca+ which is used in the muscle contraction ,also it synthesis golgi complex
