Through my lifetime, it has always been a fight -- to attend courses that I wanted/liked (like the math/sciences -- then PROVE that I was there because I HAD Talent), to the way I wanted to dress for school (hated dresses/skirts -- wanted to wear slacks to class and DID fight for that right), to career choice (military as first career), paying for what I wanted (my UGrad and Grad Degrees), to LEAVING a short disaster of a marriage (and breaking with the church as a result of the views of divorce), to the prejudice of being a Long-Term Single Parent, and then REMAINING Single (much less my hobbies/interests -- I have my own workshop in MY HOME and I enjoy working with my hands repairing, building, making things work once again) ...
IF I WAS born male ... many parts of the struggle I inherently encountered over my lifetime would NOT have been encountered ... because as a MALE it would have not been such an issue .. and I would not have had to struggle so hard for acceptance of my talents, skills, and would not have had my own work ethic challenged (or lifestyle -- because as a SINGLE I Stayed single) the way I did by being FEMALE.
Although I know that there is nothing I would change about myself (including my sex), I know that my experiences DID Shape my Life, and the Decisions I made were sound ... I DID what I needed to in order to secure for me a future -- whether it was sacrificing and making sure that I obtained my DEGREES (instead of vacationing), LEAVING a marriage (instead of sticking with it and the very real possibility I would have been killed by my ex long ago), striking out on my OWN (and paying my own way through MY HARD WORK), and yes, DEMANDING that I be able to FILE the Affidavits with the Police each and EVERY Time that my ex-spouse did commit a crime (burglarized my property (multiple times), assaulted me/the children, stealing my car(s), stealing my identity, etc) and Stating CLEARLY That I WANT the jerk prosecuted ..
Am I a STRONGER person for having encountered difficulty throughout this lengthy life? Yes, I AM a strong person ... and I continue to be strong (as evidenced by the fact that I DID File the Affidavit against the Ex once again and am now repairing my HOME after the Ex Burglarized MY HOME once again in August 2006). The impetus for this strength was that I KNEW that there would be no second chances, that I HAD to make it on my own and be beholden to NO ONE in life (and no one would care to help if I needed any help).
For one can only depend on their own inner strength to carry them through the challenges of life, and that is definitely true. IF you take charge of your life, work hard, proceed with the eyes on YOUR OWN GOALS, you CAN overcome everything put in your path. (And there are SO MANY individuals out there who like to try to put things in the paths of others .. but that can not be helped ....)

I wish we could switch back and forth sometimes. That would be kinda neat. To see the different reactions people give you just because your male or female.
