Forget it, your doomed. Just kidden! I myself am a musician, A few years ago I built a Pro Tools based home recording studio. What helped me is taking a recording studio class at my community college, most colleges will also have a pro video class also. This did two things for me, it helped me get my chops down as far as knowing and working the equipment and more important putting me in front of people that have the same interests and some were already in the industry, in turn helped me get equipment and hook me up with opportunities.

I was able to buy older equipment at studios I was interning at.
Even mics that were used that were worth 2 grand a piece I was able to work deals and usually bought for 2-3 hundred.

As far a getting into the industry , put your self in front of as many people as possible that are in the industry and be humble
and be willing to even sweep the floors at a video production studio and talk to people there and show your personality and when given a shot to show what your made of, be prepared to dazzle. I don't know if you want to work at a production house or have a home studio but I hope I gave you some good ideas. Best of luck..

YA. I am yo crystal beat for topten. Making videos is not
what you think, I assure you. Here is a quick study list of what
that is. Timing, seasonal fun, ok videos are fun, and actors,
ah, that is expensive. They want steady work. Really besides
that I spend over 20 million a year for backup issues, like where
can they live. As the most cuts on MTV director I tell you please
come see someone of our club wherever you are. To direct is
the good deal. Writing, colorists, makeup, fashions is a very
good business, all up. These areas by the way are looking to
get a good stock on hotels, keep the day job. Believe this is no
coincidence, with 3,000 videos down, and over 200 #1 my solo
effort is tiring, weird hours, and weirder people, then there is
I was lucky making a club worth much millions of equipments
by myself. But my time is out, I am 23 and have no people that
really care, 2 reasons: high tech is hardware, people are quiet.
No one says much to move the industry, money is like gold it
is in the ground. Soooo get on a good team. Sports, and fashion my paying business is what keeps me going. Try the top
people you are in touch with, be discreet and check some of my good leads: rehearsal clubs, online arts, cdnow sales, mtv,
united movie clubs, documentary scholarship. If I could help
you I can answer some questions. Sheraton believer, equestrian. The best job is what you like AND what your good at.
Happy new year. Let me know do not pass up there is lots of
choices. http://www.mtv.com

I can relate because I used to work in a hotel too and I work in a recording studio as a full time session musician and teacher. What I did was I offered my services to music schools and recording studios and places that dealt with entertainment I had a portfolio of samples of music and I gave them my business card. I networked with local studios , agencies, and advertising companies nonstop. The hotel is a temporary gig and start putting together your portfolio and talk to local studios, agencies, and advertising and you can also be your own boss and start placing ads in the papers, flyers, business cards about your services and never give up. A door will open for you in a company.
