You are a Puritan living in Massachusetts in 1634.Write a letter to your cousins in England convincing them to come to America.


I have to include details about why they live in a America and why it's better and what got them there and I only know a little bit.Please HELP ME!!

focus on religious freedom and how the puritans are being harrassed by the government of England for their obnoxious and (puritanical) religious views. The Puritans viewed themsleves as a "city upon a hill" for everyone to follow their christian example. You could also include the vast land that is avaliable and how this in turn could lead to a better life economically.

To elaborate, "city upon a hill" was coined by John Winthrop, governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, famed for its strict blue laws. I agree that you should focus on religious freedom, but specify that it only applies to Puritans as Jews and Catholics were severely harassed and harangued. You can write about how after a dismal failure in Holland ( because the English children were being "Dutchified" and forgetting English culture) and now you (the cousin) can live free from religious torment and still be citizens of the king and live as authentic English citizens.
