My car ('95 VW Golf GL)seems to jerk because of the rear wheel. The car is front-wheel-drive. I noticed a lot of grease came out from the center of that wheel. It also seems to be loose when driving. I cannot drive that car until fixed. Can someone help me? Is it an easy fix? What parts do I need to buy?

As stated here, you have a rear wheel bearing going out. My recommendation would be to buy the 2 bearings, a seal and a new brake rotor. The rotors are not all that expensive and they will have the new bearing races installed rather than having to pound out the old ones and installing the new ones.

1 Remove rear wheel
2 Remove brake caliper and bracket
3 Remove dust cap and nut from spindle.
4 Remove rotor and if vehicle has ABS, remove the tone ring from the back of the rotor using a screw driver (be careful so it doesn't break). Install on new rotor.
5 Clean and inspect spindle.
6 Take high pressure wheel bearing grease and apply to spindle and to inside of rotor where bearings will ride
7 Pack grease into new bearings, install inner bearing and grease seal
8 Install rotor on car
9 Install packed outer bearing, washer, and nut
10 Torque to spec and use nut retainer
11 Install dust cap, caliper bracket and caliper
12 Install tire
13 Test drive

If you have drum brakes it could be a bad wheel cylinder so the grease you see may be brake fluid if yo wanna check it pull your tire off and pull the drum off you may have to give it a couple whacks with a mallet or you may have to take the bolt off that is in the middle of the drum inside you will find a wheel bearing if the grease you see is not brake fluid then it is probobley grease that is excaping from the cap that covers the wheel bearing.. get drum off and peel back the boot on cylinder if fluid pours out change it out you will probobley have to change the brake shoes also because if they are contamenated with fluid it wont work any longer. if your wheel feels loose by moving the wheel from top to bottom of wheel id say your bearinings are bad or the bolt is loose and could be causing the grease flinging. before you do any thing jack the car up and spin the wheel if you hear noise like a grinding you probobley have a bummer wheel bearing.

Sounds like you have a wheel bearing going out. Expensive end--you may need to buy a new spindle along with the inner and outer bearings and seal and grease. Cheaper end--two bearings, grease and seals and you got it down. Very easy repair just make sure you grease the bearings well. Good luck. I have changed many of these on little Fords.

Your rear wheel bearing has failed. You will need a set of wheel bearings ,about $20. You may also need rear brake shoes and possibly a new brake drum as a worse case.
Brake drum $40
Brake shoes $20
Hardware kit $8
Bearings $20
Grease seal $5
If you have ruined the rear spindle, you can get a used one for $25.

it's probably not all that expensive. DO you have a service manual to help you through the process? if you are fixing it your self you will need to take it apart to figure out what has broken...
