i have been offfered a cream leather three piece suit that is only four years old . the current owners children have drawn on it with marker pen i would like to know how i can remove it before i accept the suit .

Unfortunately the marker pen will have re-dyed the leather and so there is nothing on the DIY basis that will remove this.

It will need a solvent to remove the marker and this will also remove the finish and pigment from your sofa (if it is a pigmented suite) which will then need replacing.

This is best left to the experts. Call a trained leather technician to do the work.


If you try to use baby wipes or nail polish remover or many other DIY remedies you will damage the finish on your leather. Baby wipes are just about the worst thing to clean leather with.

I cannot understand where the idea that milk will clean leather comes from. It will almost cetainly do more harm than good

Ink Remover recipe
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon borax

Blot on area, let set, then wipe off with a damp rag.

That's going to be tough to remove. In fact it probably won't come out.

My friend used BABY OIL, brilliant and she had tried everything
