Ask the hotel concierge. It's there job to be helpful to guests and they can tell you all of the places nearthe hotel to visit, as well as some other. Most of the time, they have pamphlets and brochures they can give you that describe some of the places with maps, and may even have discount coupon booklets that can save you a few bucks. Here's the address of the Hilton Chicago website and their "things to do" page: http://www.chicagohilton.com/destination_things.aspx

The Hilton and Towers is on Michigan Ave across from Grant Park, in the Loop (business district). Plenty within walking distance.
The newest portion of the park is Millennium Park which has ice skating, and the "Bean." You are also near the Museums: the Art Institute, the Field Museum (natural history), Shedd Aquarium (with a dolphin show and Beluga whales) and Adler Planetarium.
A little longer walk (or very short cab ride) north on Michigan puts you on the Magnificent Mile shopping district. Also in the touristy River North area for restaurants, bars and other entertainment. Check out the view from the Hancock building on Michigan or from the Sears Tower.

Ask the hotel concierge if you have questions.

Have fun!

Avoid Chicago for the next two weeks at all costs. The taste of Chicago is on. Busiest place on earth will be here these next few days. Other than that. I like: The Shedd Aquarium The museum of Science and Industry. The Main Chicago Public Library Building. The Magnificant Mile. Water Tower Place. Riding the EL.

If you walk north across the river on State Street, go to Redfish, a Cajun Restaurant with more or less nightly blues bands. Good food and good service. I think it's 600 N.

Depending on your interests, you can't beat the Museum of Science and Industry, the Shedd Aquarium or the Art Institute.
