Yes. It messes up your brain chemistry, could have some serious long term effects, and also has a number of chemicals that are bad for your lungs and kidneys. Self medication is always a bad thing, especially when dealing with psychotropic chemicals, where the user cannot objectively measure the effects.

Yes it is. Marijuana has a sedative-like effect on people; it can slow you down & impair your judgement. THC in marijuana (what makes it hallucinogenic) has increased from an average of 3% in the 1970s to an average of 29.6% in 2007. Marijuana can now be truly addictive in nature. It may make you feel better at the time, but like alcohol, it's a depressant and can be very dangerous to use when taking other medications (such as anti-depressants). There is also some evidence that heavy marijuana use in certain individuals can actually cause long-term chromosomal damage which can affect offspring. Also, since you can never be sure where the weed came from or what may have been mixed into what you buy, you are taking a HUGE risk for a horrendous, potentially fatal trip. It's not worth it by any means.

Not really..

Weed is totally harmless when you smoke it.it is not addictive at all and it is way less harmless to your body than cigarette itself. it effects your body and mind less than alcohol. You never lose yr control with weed, you just feel stoned.(it is really irritating to be around stoned people when you are not, they all become lazy asholes,to be exact.

BUT

The thing is,as it has no serious effects in short terms ,and really fun;weed is a drug;and it makes a step to all those other serious drugs. cos even if it doesnt make addiction; sooner or later you'll get used to it's effects, need more to get stoned, and finally it will not be enogh, and eventually create a step to all those other and really dangerous drugs!!

one other thing is that every time you smoke weed, you kill your braincells.i have friends that have been smoking for years and they cant concentrate, they cant remember some details of their memories...it is bad.

So i'm sure you want to try it like hell.So go try it.Really, and dont be afraid to use it every once in a while.but make sure that once in a whiles are really far from each other.

By the way it doesnt make you smarter or more creative,it makes you stupid, enough to make you think anything you do is smart or creative.

I think that weed effects everyone differently. I have many friends that enjoy smoking weed more than drinking alcohol. To them weed gives them a creative edge, increases their wits, and generally makes them more comfortable in a social environment.

On the flip side, weed doesn't seem to have a good effect on me. When I smoke weed I seem to LOSE my wits, I have problems keeping up in the conversation, although I do admit that I feel a little more creative with my own thoughts. Personally I don't smoke that often anymore, because I find I have a much better time when I'm able to function 100%.

As I said though, if effects everyone differently. The only way to see how if effects you is to try it.

Just because something is illegal does not mean it is bad for you, it just means the government hasn't found a way to make money on it yet. I have also found that most people who tell you weed kills and is very bad for you are the same people who get so damn drunk they can't walk but they will get behind the wheel of a car and drive putting everyone else in harms way. But that's legal! They are also the same people who get high on prescription drugs but think it's fine because a doctor gave them these drugs. I believe weed, like a lot of other natural herbs is a God given substance and if used in it's pure form and not laced with anything is the safest high out there. If anything you will get a ticket for driving to slow after you smoke a blunt, but I have never seen anyone falling down high from smoking weed.

Absolutely not. You could argue that the smoke is harmful,if that's a concern, just buy a vapourizer, problem solved. Weed is not addictive, if you have the will power, you can't get addicted. My step brother swears that he needs a joint every morning noon and night. I enjoy a quarter ounce every weekend, never during the week, I never mix it with work, as I run a payloader. Nothing bad comes from weed, it doesn't start bar fights (like alcohol), it doesn't make you go out and vandalize the town. As the adage goes: Show me someone smoking weed and watching cartoons, and I'll show you someone who's not causing any trouble.

Well, older studies say no, but recent studies in the New England Journal of Medicine suggest that it does indeed damage lung tissue if used long term, as any 'smoke' or inhaled vapor will do.

It is also being studied currently for cancer effects on the lungs, again for long-term users. Recent studies point to a possible cancer link.

It is generally thought to be non-addictive.

One area that everyone in the scientific community seems to agree upon is that marijuanna is worse than cigarettes for your vocal cords. It permanently damages the tissues, and can lead to Reinke's edema, scarring, nodes, and possibly even cancer. This is perhaps why most poeple who are weed smokers have the characteristic 'dry' or raspy sound to their voice when they speak.

Anyway, everythting can be bad for you if overdone, so if you do decide to try it, moderation pls!

There have been several studies that show the benefits of smoking weed for pain purposes. This is part of the reason why the federal government in Canada has proposes legislation to decriminalize marijuana. Individuals can apply for a license to smoke and grow their own weed. The great white north is going green.

Not as bad as tobacco, of course but, really, it's not healthy to smoke ANYTHING. You can always use a vaporizer which delivers the desired chemical/s through the lungs without the impurites of smoke. Also, eating Cannabis works but the effects are not instant. Note that no one EVER eats tobacco--imagine what THAT would do you one's insides!

Many say "it's bad because it's illegal and it's illegal because it's bad." Bosh! It's illegal because it was once popular with primarily Negroes, Mexicans, and hippies and the White Power Establishment saw the law as an effective tool to persecute these targerts of hate and intolerance ("Zero Tolerance," remember?)

Ive smoked buds for near 20 yrs. You HAVE to be its master, and put it in its place. Dont smoke during the day unless youre off from responsibilites, because life will become a blur. I smoke about everyday but only at night , and aside from drug tests, minor minor lung effect, and the once or twice a decade bust for a joint which is like 100 bucks fine, thats the drawback. People who like to hide from life tend to abuse it, and it can cutback motivation cuz you tend to just be cool with things a little longer than you would otherwise. So keep your priorities straight, and control the BUD, and it wont control you.
