I just love the character Cloud Strife from the Kingdom Hearts Games! I've heard that he was orignally from Final Fantasy Vll: Advent Children. I have never played any of the Final Fantasy Games, so if i just bought Final Fantasy Vll, would I be able to understand it, or would i need to play the other FF games in order to play.

Of course! It's easy to understand. He was in Final Fantasy VII because first because Advent Children was made a couple of years after Final Fantasy VII. If your high on graphics then you might be dissapointed a little. I loved everything about that game. No spoiling but I cried like a baby in it. The games awesome. Has a super bad boss - Sephiroth. He's bad but still cool. The ending is mindblowing! But as you progress you'll steadily understand everything so no worries. I hope this could be of some help to you. I've been a major Final Fantasy fan since I was three. ;p But none of the other games have anything to do with the others except the names. Maybe the all about the crystals in Final Fantasy 12 may have something to do with the first or second one but you won't have any trouble understanding. Promise.

Each Final Fantasy game is a stand alone game with the exception of Final Fantasy X-2, which is a sequel to FFX. FFX-2 basically wraps up the loose ends for FFX.

You don't need to play the previous FF games to understand whatever FF game you're playing.

Cloud first appeared in FFVII. FFVII: Advent Children is a follow up to FFVII.

Only certain characters are linked in the final fantasy series like cid and wedge and biggs.

You can start at final fantasy vii if you want.
All of the final fantasy games are independent except for final fantasy x and x-2

cloud was from final fantasy VII - not advent children. he was in ac, yes, but his origin is FFVII. advent children (ac) was made years later, when square decided to try to change the story from the little that was told in the FFVII game, which was actually a stolen copyright that square had to settle.

the short answer to your question is NO, you do not need any prior experience in final fantasy games to start up with final fantasy VII. it was aimed at a newer generation, and many of the complexities of common RPGs are not present in that game, they needed to dumb down the game in order to appeal to a newer generation of people - people that commonly need cheats to play through a game for the first time.

no, to play final fantasy VII, the worst final fantasy game in the series, you do not need prior experience - don't get me wrong, i love final fantasy, but i don't love trash
