Ok so i got a new audio system installed about 2 weeks ago its a box w/ 2 10" subs (800 watt) kicker amp 6x9 speakers 6.5 component speakers and a new deck. My battery died within the first day...then i got a charger and charged it and it was good for like 4 days and diead again...i think it might be the alternator...so...

Do i need a new alternator?
How many amps do i need?
How much does it cost to buy one?
Could i install myself?

thank you!!

did you install it yourself? make sure you didn't wire everything as constantly powered and to only power when the radio is active.

did you run the stereo system without the car running? that will drain your battery fast.

the problem is probably not the alternator, that just charges the battery. to save your battery, you should probably install a capacitor to supplement the subs and less drain on your battery.

Besides being an electrical problem it may just be loose wiring.Perhaps the ground point or maybe wires touching. The reason I say that is you mentioned it does it when you make sudden moves. That almost seems like a short in the amps wiring somewhere.

id check and make sure your amp isnt still on when you shut off your car. if there is a light or something on your amp so you can tell. i had to have my factory amp replaced in my car by the dealer ship and i would park my car for the night go to start it in the mornings and it would be dead. it did this for like 1 wk then i took it back to the dealer ship and they had one of the wires wrong i think maybe the remote wire but im not sure so you might need to check and make sure your amp goes off when your radio goes off.
