If you were doing something, then you would be distracted by what you are doing, and would not need to listen (even though you don't mean to). It is like our sense of smell, we can't help what we are smelling unless we walk away. Either you need to walk away or find something else to distract you. Anyhow, eves dropping make the best gossip, don't you think.

You're perfectly normal. It's called "being human". When we are doing nothing to distract ourselves, we cannot help but listen to the conversations of others around us. We are social animals, we are curious, we are yentas.

Boy!! This is tough!! Walk away? Think of something else? Admit you're nosy? Draw a picture? Go for a ride? Get away or move your mind on to something else. Works for me and I AM NOSY!! Good Luck!! @8=)

Uh...you sure it's not your concious? If so, then listen to some music, sings the words, or something.

listen. you might learn something. good or bad.
you can't stop your ears from hearing. you can stop what you pay attention to. something in their conversations must have attracted you in order for you to have such concerns.
