Every day I get 5 to 10 advertisements saying I won something free - or order it now. I was going into each E-Mail and telling them to unsubscribe me, but it's just too much!!! How can I get rid of them all at once? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

don't click on any links on the spam letters!! this way you let the spammers know that your email address is active so they will send you more and more advertisements! they send like massive letters for every address they find published on the internet. you can't stop them from sending those emails, but you can use spam filter or even change your email address. don't ever give your email to strangers nor when you register at some website. if the email is required field, better have second email account for registration.

Never click on an unsubscribe link. It verifies to the sender that they reached a valid email address. If you tell them no, they can (and do) sell to someone else as a verified address.

If you are using a web email interface like Yahoo, then make sure you turn on the bulk/junk filter. This catches about half of them.

f using Outlook, their junk mail filter will catch about 90%. Just make sure you do the Microsoft update each month, as the junk signatures get updated too. Also do not automatically download images (keep reading for why)

Try to read email ONLY in text format. In Outlook, this is easy as you can set this up. Using Yahoo mail or other web/HTML interfaces is tough to do. Spammers will imbed a 0x0 pixel GIF (graphic with no size) that when your computer goes to read this non-image, it will provide your email address to them. Really! They also have pURL's (Personal URL's) that every spam mail has their own unique website so they can check that the page was accessed - meaning that again, this is a valid email address.

Lastly, make sure you ask about or read the privacy policy of any company you give your email address to.

Its probably too late for you, and you will only get more email because you tried to unsubscribe from some, and actually opened some of these messages. It's harsh, but your best bet is to contact your trusted friends and coworkers and give them a completely new address. Just dont do what you did before...now that you know...

Get a new e-mail address, and never, never, never give you e-mail away to anyone besides people you trust. Then make another one and use that one for entering into website and giving to stores and stuff like that. You could also get a spam filter
