Did anyone else hear that Apple is being sued for using the name "iPhone"? I heard it on my local news station, but haven't been able to find a source online.

Apple is being sued by Cisco for using the same name the company used, and has been using since 2000. The iphone that Cisco made is also a product similar to Apple's iphone, but with different features. Although the spokesperson for Apple found this lawsuit "silly", Cisco has a chance of making Apple pay the legal fees and relinquish all profits eventually made on the iPhone. Cisco also demands Apple destroy all labels, signs, packaging and other promotional material that includes the word "iPhone," a product it cost Apple millions to develop.

Also, Apple first asked Cisco in 2001 to acquire or license rights to the name. When Cisco declined, Apple embarked on a campaign of "confusion, mistake and deception" in its effort to secure the rights, the lawsuit claims.

All in all though, Apple has a good chance of getting sent to court, but as of right this moment it stills kinda ify.
