why was he famous and why he wanted to be a lawyer

He was the first Black Supreme Court Justice. He was also a very active civil rights lawyer, he represented the black kids that wanted were being denied access to schools in Alabama. He probably wanted to be a lawyer as a way to do good.

He was the first African American Justice of the United States Supreme Courtby President Lyndon Johnson in 1967. He was also Chief Counsel for the NAACP.As a child,he was always fascinated with the Constitution and as a law student was taught to use it to it's fullest extent for all not just African Americans against segregation.

Thurgood Marshall was a great man! He so believed in equality that he personally advised S Africa on how to protect the rights of it's white minority. That to me is a sign of greatness, taking action to protect people who would subjugate you.
