Gladiator is the better overall film. Everything went right: performances, photography, etc. and David Franzoni's screenplay was brilliant. Hans Zimmer's score is powerful although at times it bears a striking similiarity to Pirates of the Caribbean.

Viisually, Troy was easier on the eyes and James Horner's music is haunting and amazing. David Benioff's screenplay drew clever parallels between brothers and cousins and while it took liberty with Homer, it was extremely well done. Performances by Brian Cox, Brendan Gleason and Peter O'Toole were magic to watch. Brad Pitt? Ouch. The real question here is can one actor derail a film? Yeah, he can.

Gladiator. Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom ruined Troy.

I liked them both, but I'm going to say Gladiator only because I have an interest in Roman history.

Gladiator. Most definately. Troy was long winded and boring, Gladiator is long but atleast it's exciting.

Gladiator... a little inaccurate historically, but still way better than Troy's butchering of the Illiad and the story of the Trojan War.
