i could say the same thing about good old scottish humour would the english get it or would they be like HUH !

If they were familiar with the subject, they most likely would. i probably would. It's jokes about England's culture or history that Americans usually have a hard time getting (because we study a different history and have different interpretations of the same events, and so on).

It's true there humour differs from ours but if a joke is funny then it's funny in any humour(Unless it's offencive to them in particular).
