No. I applied for them once in my life & was turned down. My husband had lost his job because they supposedly went out of business. We found out later that they had moved to a state where they could pay lower wages & opened under a different name. I was working for about $5 /hr (this was in the 70's) and I applied for food stamps since we had a daughter also. I was told that Reagan had changed the requirements for food stamps & essentially $5 /hr was enough for a family of 3!

After I was warned about the dangers of sniffing glue, I decided that licking it would be safer. The glue on food stamps was much better than postage stamps and a whole lot cheaper. Plus I got to eat once in awhile!

No, I have never been on food stamps....obviously a person would get them because they do not make much money and cannot afford to buy food so they get the government to help them out.

Yes, I currently get cash assistance for food from the state. I have to because I'm on disability and unable to find work that will let me work permanent part-time. I have an A.A. degree and still nobody will hire me. I'll have to be on SSI for the rest of my life and be dependent on the government for my existence. There are a lot of people like me out here that really need government support whether we like it or not. We just have to learn to accept it and live with it.

I got food stamps for myself and my three daughters from 1982 to 1984 while I was in R.N. school. Thank God for them, or we would have gone hungry a few times without them!!

Yes. I was going through a divorce, I had moved to a new state, was working three part time jobs (I was waiting for one of the jobs to turn full-time), and I didn't make very much money.

I was very grateful to get help when I needed it.
