to win an Academy Award when she isn't full African American? Why wasn't she the first bi-racial American to win one?
I'm not being racist, but it seems odd.

King Midas, you talk about white people using race to deny accomplishments, etc., but I am not doing that. It was an innocent question, and I don't think race should ever be an issue, as we should all be judged equally. Part of the reason I asked this question is because I have a good friend in Thailand who is half Thai and half Black, but she calls herself Thai/Asian and that is how she is percieved. On the other hand, you have Tiger Woods who is half Thai and I think 1/4 Black, but he is associated with being Black. I don't have a problem with this, but I think people should be proud of who they are, whether they be one race or mixed race.

first mulatto's aren't a recognized race in racist America.
second, there isn't a race called isn't full african american.
It is funny that white people still use race to deny accomplishments of blacks. I guess Jesus wasn't fully black either. I also guess Beethoven wasn't fully black either because his mother was white, and his father was a Moor.

She looks more black than she does white. The darker genes dominate. Most blacks in America have white blood in them. She may be biracial but she is black. If you saw her walking down the street you would say she was black.

Blacks will always claim a mulatto as their own if they accomplish something good in life, but not if the mulatto becomes a serial killer or rapist or something else bad.
If there is a first African-American woman it is Condolezza Rice.
From reading King Midas words below he obviously doesn't realize that Moors are not referred to as black. They are more middle-eastern. Black refers to those of sub-Saharan African descent.
