I could write all evening but the girl above me told you what to do. If you figure out what it is they want and why they need it, THEN you put YOUR brain to work and visualize how to block their moves. You play it cool and act as if you hadn't noticed. Your silence or your lack of attention or your look of boredom or disinterest, will put them off their game. Now go practice!! And learn how to keep it up. If you slip a few times and get back into your old role just back up and start again. Don't give up and you will learn to tame the ego-beast and all other ego-beasts in your future. It's called passive-aggressive. It drives them NUTS!!
Those ego-beasts are usually weak and afraid. Show them you couldn't give a whoop, but do it with action, not a speech. Be quiet. Be cool. Wish I could be a fly on the wall when you catch on!! Good Luck!! @8=)

No, do not fight arrogance with arrogance. Like they say, if you fight fire with fire, you'll only end up getting burned. My advise to fight arrogance is to be either indifferent, or just ignore them. Usually arrogance is a person's way of trying to show off.

Fisrt, be sure your assumption is correct--that there behavior is due to self-perceived status, and that you are not assuming.

Well, this person is not commiting any crime for being like that. Just ignore him, dis-associate yourself with them.
