It is thought by anthropologist's that it goes deep into some of our natures to believe in gods, or One God, whatever you call a higher power.

And it was very important to us, to think that he looked very much like us. "God created us in his image, Male and female he created them."

Or to believe in dieties that represented our natural environment. A god of water, fire, earth, air, and Spirits.

I think we created only the symbols. But, for my way of thinking, I wouldn't think that just because we created the symbols, that does not mean that we created our gods!

I remember being asked this question by the Universalist Unitarian Church, cause' they wanted to find out if my beliefs were similar enough to they'res.

Cause' here's the only part we haven't got in this equation.

We still can't seem to find out where we came from and how we got here. And that is probably one of the biggest arguments for a higher power. Also, just the mere structure of a leaf.

Ever look at it! How could that happen by accident? There are never any two alike, and same for human beings. Even though the numbers of us seem to go on into infinity.

No one thought or made God up. God was there. There is only one God. All the other people made up gods because they were searching for an answer to fill up the emptyness of existance. The one true God who sent Jesus to die for our sins loves us.

Wonderful question. Don't know, but the band XTC had this line in a song called "Dear God" many years ago:

Did you make the sea
And the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind
After we made you?
(And the devil too?)

Noone "made" God. God always was and always will be. Its one of those things that humans just can't understand. He has always been around, yet noone created him....He just is.
