Look at the four faces on Mount Rushmore for your answer. Washington founded our nation; Jefferson expanded our nation; Lincoln preserved our nation from being divided; and Teddy Roosevelt, a conservationist, preserved our nation's natural resources from being overrun by industry.

I vote for Lincoln.
Few men have the backbone to see a moral dilemma so clearly and pursue it through so many difficulties.
I would vote for Roosevelt for the same reasons, except that he looses points for not acting sooner. He was hypnotized by the appeasers and didn't recognize Hitler for what he was, regardless of how many sovereign nations fell like dominos.

Reagan, Lincoln, FDR, Andrew Jackson, JFK, Washington. I'm sure there are quite a few others, but these had a major influence at an important time in our country.

Roosevelt. During the time & situation we were confronted with WW 2. In my mind he was the best leader we had.
