it might be because of low memory of your computer. also most of security programs are not compatible with each other. try to run mcafee and spybot separately. mcafee conflicts with many programs, probably spybot is one of them. check out official mcafee forum: http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php
if nothing helps, try some other antispyware, such as spyware doctor, it's pretty good: http://www.2-spyware.com/review-spyware-doctor.html

Sounds like:

Your personal firewall is set too high...
If it's on Mcafe disable it and then try to run it
Don't worry your normal firewall will cover.

If this is not the case than as the previous answer stated - run safe mode (keep pressing f12 on startup and then select safe mode) and uninstall the programmes. Then re install them.

If you need a last resort use free downloadable applications:

AVG

or

Avast

Also make sure you are using the most updated versions of the software.

Don't run them? lol Click on start, run, type in msconfig, click on the startup tab in the new box that will open up...uncheck everything there unless its something very specific that you want to turn on when you start up your computer. Reboot the computer, when the computer turns back on click no to the lil box that will pop up. Try to run these programs again. If it still crashes your computer, reboot your computer and start it up in safe mode. Once in safe mode run the programs again. If the computer still crashes uninstall both programs and re install them.
