You could try a local auction house or do it on Ebay yourself if you are not in a rush and want to get more value. Local auction you are likely to lose a lot of money.

Your best bet is to sell it as a going concern otherwise you have wasted a lot of time building a client base and good will for nothing and no one likes to work for nothing . just make sure you don't under price yourself otherwise people think the business is not doing all right and that's why you want to get out, i am selling my business too and i was asking only $1000000 but since then after doing no good at selling i realized that i was selling too cheap, the stock and plant i have is worth more than what i was asking so people thought that there must be something wrong with it, so now I'm asking $200000 and Ive had 2 bites all ready in as many weeks, but you must keep it running.

Contact some dealerships in your area. Ask them if they would be willing to host a "sale party" in their parking lot. Along with their radio ads and mailing fliers, they would mention your store is having a party in their parking lot on such & such day. Discounts on merchandise, free food & drink and 20% off the price of a new bike purchase - free T shirt - free helmet (they can make up that money, I know cause my shops have done it LOL). As for food & drink - you could probably get a discount from caterers for a few 12" subs an urn of coffee and 5-6 liters of soda.

I think you should contact the supplier to see how much they'd take the stuff back for. Maybe a liquidator store would buy it, or if you have a competitor nearby they'd buy it. Before that you'd want to have a "going out of business" sale, you'd probably make out best that way. Contact your bank, maybe they'd have a good answer for you, or start toting the stuff to flea markets, cycle swap meets, rallies, things like that.
EDIT, or start selling it on eBay? Maybe that would go over so good you'd start an online store on eBay!

Sell your entire business intact. Find someone who wants to own and operate a motorcycle apparel store at that location, agree on terms, etc.

What do you have? and how much stuff?
Can you send me a list with what you are willing to sell it for. Remember i am a dealer too so it has to be worth it for me to buy. i could buy a larg quantity but if you don't want to take a hit try ebay. It will take awhile but would work.

If you want to do it yourself, use ad/selling services such as eBay and craisglist. There are also companies which specialize in closing stores and liquidating inventory - for a fee.

Send me a note off list with a brief discription of what you have and your asking price. I'll respond directly after I read it.
