Depends what year the car is and what motor is has. 1994 and lower luminas with the 3.1L code T motor have to have their PCM's relearned as this is a speed density algorithm inside the computer. To do this, you have to disconnect the power from the PCM for about ten seconds. Then reconnect the power. Now turn the ignition on but don't try to start the motor. After about five seconds, attempt to start the motor, it might stall. Continue to do so until the motor starts and runs by itself. DO NOT help the motor run by giving any throttle and that is very important!!! Now that the motor is running, let it run till operating temp is reached. You have now relearned the PCM and are free to continue on. Good luck.

Sounds like the fuel pump took a bad turn for the worse. Poor electrics have this effect plus the fact that most critical electrical systems in this car are computer designed to fail along with the failure of it's first battery. If everything is o.k. then live with the learning curve that your computer is adjusting to -to regain previous performance.I've added additional ground wires(to engine and frame) with excellent results.Brighter lights and quicker starts only begin to reinforce the many improvements that this simple modification has made.

yes a lot of chevy's with the 3.1 had to have the computer reset after the battery has been unhooked but I'm not sure if yours is one, sometimes you have to drive it a couple of miles for the computer to reset and other times it has to be set manually such is the case on the 89 cavalier, call the chevy dealer and ask them to make sure and they can tell you how to reset it.
