I am a Christian also, and I listen to Cradle of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Arch Enemy, Trivium, Skindred, and others in the same category. Listen to what you want. As long as you know where your heart is then it shouldn't matter. Danni's voice is awesome!
Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films.
The band is often perceived as satanic by casual observers, although its outright lyrical references to satanism are few and far between, and its use of satanic imagery has arguably always had more to do with the shock value than any deeply-held beliefs. Nevertheless, Andrea Meyer (the band's first female vocalist on The Principle of Evil Made Flesh) makes an uncorroborated claim in Gavin Baddely's Lucifer Rising (p.211) that she was employed as the band's "satanic advisor", protecting them from the foolish excesses she believes other bands guilty of: "A lot of black metal bands know nothing of Satanism. They like the image and... give proper satanists a bad name by claiming they indulge in sacrifices and drink blood or whatever... Look what happened in Norway... Still, I liked Euronymous. He wasn't stupid - just too extreme. It's a shame that he's dead."

Don't listen to those who quickly and foolishly dismiss the band as Satanic without a thought or even bothering to look into it.
To automatically assume that a band is necessarily believing in a certain thing because that's what their songs tend to be about is absolutely idiotic. By this same erroneous reasoning you'd have to assume that Led Zepplin believed in Lord of the Rings, which obviously wasn't the case. Hell, the Misfits could be construed as "satanic" for some songs, but each song was based on a horror movie!
This group is playing a particular kind of music and tailoring it to a specific style and subject matter. Here is part of an interview with them:
"NadaMucho.com: One of the things on my mind is that you guys seem pretty serious about Satanism...
Dave Pybus: Satanism?
NM: That seems to be the case. Maybe I'm wrong. But the lyrical content is pretty deep in a lot of places. It seems pretty serious.
DP: No, no. Obviously we come off as a dark kind of band, because that's what we are. But we're not trying to promote any particular angle on religion or anything like that. We're just a Halloween kind of band, that's what we portray. I mean you wouldn't expect John Carpenter to go and make a Disney style movie or something. I don't know what kind of person John Carpenter is, but he's not necessarily a Satanist, and you know he's going to make a horror film. That's where we're coming from, we're more of a horror kind of band."
Don't worry your faith is not compromised and your Christianity is intact. Though if you're worried about music ruining your faith, then somehow I think you may have other issues...

They are not satanic. They are merely percieved as satanic because of their imagery. They are very self-aware of what they represent to the world and enjoy phucking with people's minds. Dani himself stated that he chose a music career over writing because he has always been fascinated with how music has such an influence over people. Judging from what I've read around the internet he's probably a very intelligent person and uses his "satanic" persona to shock and sell records (see Marilyn Manson). Direct references to satan and satanism are few and far in his lyrics, and they are usually defined as black metal or extreme metal rather than satanic metal.

Wow, okay, I think I may be the first non-judgmental answer on here (Apparently not, I was too slow answering. Kudos to the polite answerers!).
Most Hard Metal/Death Metal bands keep a pretty tight lid on their personal lives. Thus it is hard to find "meanings" to any of the lyrics. Furthermore, its difficult to find anything on their thoughts and feelings on religion, politics or anything relevant (a notable exception to this is System of a Down who is very politically active).
If you want to get an idea what kind of person Danny (I think it may be spelled Dani) is behind the makeup and such, he was in an episode of Bam Margera's show Viva La Bam. Also, several music outlets have interviews up, but those are mostly "in character."
Listen to the kind of music you like, go to the church you want, believe what you want to believe and enjoy life. Just because you go to church doesn't mean you can't listen to music, and if anyone tells you you're going to hell for listening to it, tell them that all sins are equal in the eyes of God and they're just as guilty for casting judgement on you.
I wish I'd had the foresight to say that to my Sunday School teachers when they found out I'd gone to Ozzfest the day before. I got an hour long lecture on the evils of modulated guitar and speed drumming ;D

Cradle of Filth's lyrics are heavily based on gothic literature (Poe, Lovecraft etc.) so that is generally where the references for old gods come from.

how can you love something you know nothing about? read these lyrics and maybe you'll get your answer....
Black is the night, metal we fight
Power amps set to explode
Energy screams, magic and dreams
SATAN RECORDS THE FIRST NOTE
We chime the bell, chaos and hell
Metal for maniacs pure
Fast melting steel, fortune on wheels
Brain haemorrhage is the cure
For black metal
Black metal
Lay down your souls to the God's rock 'n roll
Freaking so wild, nobodies mild
Giving it all that you got
Wild is so right, metal tonight
Faster than over the top
Open the door, ENTER HELL'S CORE
Black is the code for tonight
Atomic force, feel no remorse
Crank up the amps now its night

Lay down your souls to the God's rock 'n roll
Metal ten fold through the deadly black hole
RIDING HELL'S STALLIONS BAREBACK AND FREE
Taking our chances with raw energy
Come ride the night with us
Rock hard and fight
United my legions we stand
Freak hard and wild for us
Give up your soul

While there's nothing wrong with being Chirstian, I don't think you should let your religion dictate what music you can and can not listen to.
Cradle of Filth is awesome though!

May they forever rock.

Last I heard was that they are into vampirism, they share blood...whether this is just media hype leaked by the band to gain notoriety is another thing, look them up on the net. I like the music as well. But now you have a choice to make.

Does it really matter what gods people worship? If you like their music you like their music. Freedom of Religion, remember?
