I haven't seen it yet, but I want to really bad. I LOVED Beatrix Potter as a child, and the movie looks enchanting.

No and I don't intend to. I totally respect Beatrix Potter's creative genius and I loved her books when I was young. But we're talking about the film here. Not only does the thought of sitting through an hour and a half of Zellweger's scratchy voice horrify me but it also feels like I'm encouraging film producers to choose American/Canadian actors/actresses over actual Brits. It's not like we don't have the talent!
Zellweger and McGregor are both ok actors but this film looks too prim and rose-tinted to be anything near the truth. If Beatrix Potter was a woman 'ahead of her time' and defied convention as they claim, why does every trailer portray her as an odd, vulnerable, dependant female who talked to her own drawings? I bet if she was here now, she'd be yelling 'but I'm SO much sassier than that you sheepy-voiced idiot!'
& how can Zellweger already be nominated for a Golden Globe for this performance - she even said herself that all we really know about Potter comes from her journal (which incidentally she stopped writing when in her teens) and her letters. So can anyone say for a fact that this is an award-winningly accurate portayal of the real Beatrix Potter?
Oh well, if it makes people happy for a couple of hours then woohoo. I have a feeling it will end up being much more successful in boosting a beleagered tourist industry (you'll be amazed at how many people go to the lake district thanks to Miss Potter and Peter Rabbit) than being a memorable film.
Animals would probably like the film cos people might stop eating ducks, rabbits etc for a little while...

Saw it Sunday ,with my 5 year old girl. The first part is great, the middle bit not so , the end O..K.
But it's a very good film, though funny how an American has cornered the market on quirky English girls....

No, and i would advise you not to watch it as it looks crass. In the advert it said she changed the world, what a load of rubbish. i mean really she was a good children's author its not like she cured cancer or did anything remotely helpful for mankind. don't get me wrong the books are wicked but its not even about the books.

No I didn't know about it till I read your question. I thought it was about Harry's mother, but then i went to the website and I really want to see it now. I just loved Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger in 'Down With Love" so i cant wait to see them in this one.
