No, you are not a bad person, I also have those same type of ideas, and I know I am not a bad person.

You're not a bad person - as long as you don't want to follow in his footsteps. You have a right to appreceiate what Hitler did for Germany; he DID do a lot of good after WWI. He just let it get out of hand by becoming a megalomaniac.
Never be ashamed to learn ANYTHING. Learning about Hitler is a good way not to emulate him and to realize the good with the bad. I haven't seen anything in this query that would make me think you are a neo-Nazi. A true student of history wants to know the good and the bad, not just the winning side's story.
I'll bet there were a few things about some of our forefathers that aren't in the history books as well; some good some bad. It all boils down to who writes the history.
Go ahead and learn German. I've been to Germany, and it is a beautiful country. Learning the language would make it so much more real if you could go there someday.

Hitler did many evil things, and thousands of years will pass and their guilt will not be erased. However, Hitler did almost lead a very tiny country to world domination, think about it...Germany almost took over the world, this is an incredible, it seems almost impossible. Hitler was no doubt an evil man, but I see what you're saying, if one man could do this he must have been a great leader and he would of been if he was doing something GOOD, so you are right he was a good leader with terrible intentions, you do not need someone to talk to you are just looking at it from a different perspective which is fine, you would only need to talk to someone if you agree with killing off a race because they are less human than you ect. which it seems like you dont think this way, Hitler was a faccinating character and there is nothing wrong with researching him and finding interest in him, just remember the evil he brought upon the world, and the millions that suffered because of him.

He may have said a few good things, but my mom lived in Germany during WWII and Hitler was not doing a thing for the German people.
it is OK to want to learn to speak German. I took classes when I was younger. German's are great people, but just like in all races, there are bad people too.
I think you should switch to a different person to talk about.

Hitler was very cunning, giving the people something to focus their hatred and to blame things on, it's all basic psycology, but your right, economically hitler did some good (if you fitted his idea of what a german should look like).
However, most evil people/ regimes do some good.. eg, the taliban, throughly un-nice people what with all the stonings and killings, but they stopped the heroin being grown in afganistan, now their gone, theres a whole bunch more drugs on the streets.
people tend to forget that, when hitler was busy with his mass killings, joe stalin (our ww2 ally) managed to kill 23 000 000 people, 4 times more than the nazis. and that it was the British who invented the concentration camp system in africa during the boar war (but without as much death).

After reading all his atrocities and watching WWII documentaries, Hitler became synonymous to evil. The mere mention of his name would flash on people's minds images of piles of dead bodies and Jews packed on trains on their way to the gas chambers. When his name precedes the words, "said some good things", it will trigger major conflicts in people's minds and probably won't hear anything you say after the word "good". It's totally unexpected. The minds reaction will be like, "wha... how.. did I hear it right?” The initial suggestion is that you are justifying what he did. There are a lot of intelligent people like you whose interest is not bound by traditions. The down side is that the majority of the population is, that when you speak your mind you will tend to be tactless. You are not a bad person. You just need to understand traditions. If you rephrased your thought as "After all of Hitler's monster deeds, it's unbelievable that he actually said something good...." you might actually have a decent peaceful discussion.

Everything has pluses and minuses. Even fascism had some pluses, why do you think Germany is now leading in medical industry. But these pluses can't compensate the minuses. That's why I don't like that regime. But you've surely got a right to have such an opinion.

No, you may not be a bad person, but you may have some bad ideas. The best thing you can do is find something to talk about other than Hitler. He was a bad person, very bad.
