It's a coincidence. Look a familiar will bond to you and stay near. A cat that you see and come to you with little calling is a familiar. A cat on the street that you see but doesn't become a part of your life is not a failure.
Now there are STORIES! There are stories about animals that turn into people and back. They are called Guardian Topalitz (something like that) They are Guardian spirits that look alive but are somewhere in the middle of life and death. They come to people when a person in their care is in the process of change or need help or something. Now I don't know what you saw and supposedly only the person in their care can see them. But. . .
I heard about this when I was in my "new age" phase!
Good luck. If you want to E mail me or YIM me you can. Bye!!

Familiars are not ghosts. They are real beings and are animals that have usually chosen you.
Depending on the depth of study and time period, familiars were often mistakenly associated with witchcraft in Europe in the middle ages, are considered a totem or guardian in Native American beliefs, and in some cultures they are considered a spirit, both "good" and "bad" on their most basic level.
If what you saw were "spirits" meaning that you don't own a black cat, or have a black gentleman living with you, then you are experiencing a totally different phenomenon.

yeah it is still a familiar, but my theory is that it was a familiar of the house or the place... and also, as someone else said familiars are usually animals and sometimes they can change to have human-like form for a period of time...and what do these mean? well, it could mean that they/it wanted to warn you of something or they/it ( i`m using they/it because it may be the same familiar in another form) wanted just to let some people know that the house or the place is under their protection..

What is "it" in "my cousin saw it also."? That's why we are saying you are racist and offensive. You are referring to a person as "it" instead of "him". Better stay away from the continent Africa or else you'll be scared stiff. The ghosts will be everywhere you glance once your plane lands in say . . . Maputo or Harare or Abidjan (believe me, these are names of the ghosts with the deadliest vengeance).
Good bye, see you. . . .when I can't avoid it.
