This is a very profound question and the answer sheds light on some deep and far reaching philosophical debates, that themselves have raged for millennia (definitely no more than 6).

The answer is of course that God does it. Every excrement is another tiny miracle in the infinite list of His divine gifts. It's such an incredibly complex process to poo on your own that none of us would be able to "go" without His helping hand (or rather His helpers helping hands - He's way too busy chatting to the Pope etc). The reality is that choirs of angels massage your bowels each time you go adding frankincense and myrrh (that accounts for the gas - {a euphemism of the Holy Ghost}) to achieve the correct consistency on "exit" and to produce that satisfying "Plop" noise, as these angel assisted miracles descend into the Holy font of satisfaction and relief.

So there we have it. Proof finally, if ever we doubted it, that God really does exist.

You body extracts nutrients from the food you eat. All waste product is sent out in the form of poo.

Your body breaks down food into its basic components using acid and enzymes in your stomach. After your body absorbs what it needs from the food in the small intestine, the slush that is left is pushed into your large intestine where it mixes with bacteria that grows naturally there. The bacteria grow while the warm food is sitting there, waiting to be expelled.

Human fecal material is about 50 percent bacteria by weight. The rest is broken down food.
