While World Cup's method is workable, it is not the current way of doing them.

Some re-bar is still used, but mostly they use a type of sheathed cable through the slab in both directions. When the slab is poured and cured for a few days, i don't remember how long exactly, the cables are tensioned and locked off under tension with a special cable pulling machine. the amount of tension is determined by the size of the slab, the cable and it's intended purpose. for normal homes, probably about 3000 ft lbs of tension. you will have to check it out for the exact figures.

Why is this done? Because concrete is extremely strong when tensioned, but weak when not.

A lot of rebar 1/2" ,3/4"tie ever 8" into grid pattern, you will need 2 layer of this grid about 4'' over the other. That 4" off the ground with grid 1.then 8" off ground with grid 2.That 4" between grids.Pour about 11"or 12" of concrete. You don't need footers in Alaska any ways!!!!! You will have drawing before you start
