I am 9 weeks pregnant and my breasts are a lot bigger, and they are very heavy, but so far the scale says I haven't gained anything.

Did you gain any weight during your first trimester?

Should I expect a weight gain in the first 13 weeks or so?

After my first trimester I had LOST 8 pounds. I heard 3-6 pounds gained is normal and up to 10 pounds lost is normal for the first trimester... and now I am beginning the third trimester and put that 8 pounds back on with an additional 10 pounds as well. It'll be alright. Good luck and congrats!

How much actual weight have you gained (based on the scale, not pants size)? If you're really concerned, you should always check in with your doctor or midwife and ask them. Generally speaking, they say you should only gain 1-4 lbs. during the first trimester - I personally only gained a couple of pounds, and am pretty sure that was mostly or all fluid retention. (I was also very, very nauseous for the first trimester and beyond.) But I have friends who gained up to 8 lbs. in the first trimester, and went on to gain a normal amount of weight for the pregnancy and both they and the baby were healthy. Did your size change only in the hips and thighs, or did it change in the waist, too? It's extremely common to bloat starting very soon after a positive test, because all that progesterone slows down your digestive system. You can also wind up constipated and gassy. Fun! (Not really.) I almost instantly started wearing the biggest pants in my closet right after getting pregnant, because I couldn't stand the pressure around my waist and hips of my normal pants, even though my actual size and weight hadn't changed much yet. Almost everyone I know who has gotten pregnant had some kind of size difference, a slight weight difference, had trouble with tolerating pressure around their middles, etc. within the first trimester. I would judge the weight gain by the actual scale, not size difference. If you are earlier in the first trimester (say, before 9 weeks) and have already gained more than a few pounds, you may want to check in with your doctor about it, just to make sure there is nothing to be concerned about. But odds are, things are fine... just changing rapidly! Lots of luck, I hope everything goes well for you.

I actually lost three pounds in my first trimester because I had bad morning sickness and couldn't eat much of anything. It's normal to gain 3 or 4 pounds in the first trimester, but some women, like me, actually lose weight due to morning sickness.

I lost 5 lbs my first trimester because I was so sick the whole time. The OB assured me that as long as I kept down some stuff and was keeping down my vitamins the baby would be fine. I'm now 34 weeks pregnant and have gained 18 lbs though so i'm back on track.

I don't think you should worry; I am 14 weeks preg. and I still haven't gain a ounce either. My midwife said that it is normal to not see any dramatic weight gain in the first tri.
Good Luck to you and the baby.

I wouldnt think so. If you are having cravings, you could gain weight but you should be eating healthy. Probably only gain less than 10 pounds.

every woman is different. I gained some, lost some and now I am gaining steadily (i am in third trimester). if your doctor doesn't seem concerned, then you shouldn't be either.
